Interactive Industrial Design: Enhancing Everyday Life Through User-Centric Solutions

One of the ways in which the modern world isn’t always accessible to those with autism is with the lack of autism-friendly lighting. White, harsh lights can be uncomfortable or painful to those with sensory processing difficulties, and overexposure can lead to migraines or a meltdown. Sensory lighting for autism provides a necessary and engaging option that can help provide a more comfortable environment for those with autism!

THIS EMPHASIZES THAT THERE IS GREAT DIVERSITY WITHIN THE AUTISM SPECTRUM AND INDIVIDUALITY IN DESIGN IS OF HIGH IMPORTANCE. A COMMONALITY, HOWEVER, IS THAT PEOPLE ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM OFTEN RELY ON STRUCTURES, ROUTINES, AND PREDICTABILITY TO HELP COPE WITH EVERYDAY LIFE.

VISUAL SENSITIVITIES ARE VERY COMMON AMONG CHILDREN WITH AUTISM. A VISUAL SENSORY OVERLOAD CAN HAPPEN RAPIDLY, BE DISORGANIZING, UPSETTING, AS WELL AS ELICIT A STRONG AND OFTEN PAINFUL RESPONSE. THE ENVIRONMENT PLAYS A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN VISION FOR OUR CHILDREN. THINK ABOUT THE PLACE OUR CHILDREN ARE IN THE MOST.

Introducing my passion project, "Designing with Autism in Mind!"

Understanding the distinctive sensory experiences of individuals with autism, I have embarked on the creation of an autism-friendly lighting solution. Recognizing that people with autism perceive the world differently, and may be hypersensitive to various stimuli, my focus lies in addressing their unique needs. By prioritizing the enhancement of both 'tactile' and 'visual' senses, my goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for autism kids.

In this journey of meaningful design, I invite others to join me in making a positive impact and fostering a more empathetic and accommodating world for individuals with autism. Let's illuminate the path toward a brighter and more inclusive future together!
